Indication   :       Monthly administration for prevention of heartworm disease (Dirofilaria immitis) ; treatment, prevention and control of flea infestations (Ctenocephalides felis) and control of flea allergy dermatitis; treatment and control of adult hookworm (Ancylostoma caninum), roundworm (Toxocara canis and Toxascaris leonina) and whipworm (Trichuris vulpis) infections in dogs and puppies from 8 weeks of age, and ≥ 2.3 kg bodyweight.Spinosad has been demonstrated to rapidly kill fleas; studies confirmed that spinosad began to kill fleas within 30 minutes and was 100% effective within four hours.

There are no restrictions on swimming or washing after treatment with Panoramis, so the dog can be treated while wet and exposed to water immediately after treatment.

There is no requirement to exclude the dog from access to any furniture or home fittings. The product is not a topical one, therefore cannot damage any surfaces or other materials in the home.

Actions : Spinosad is a member of the spinosyn class of insecticides and has a unique action on the insect nervous system, causing nerve excitation, leading to muscle contractions, paralysis and death in fleas. Milbemycin oxime is a member of the macrocyclic lactone class of anthelmintics.

It increases nematode membrane permeability to chloride ions via glutamate gated chloride ion channels, leading to flaccid paralysis and death of target parasites. Milbemycin oxime prevents heartworm and controls gastrointestinal nematodes.

Precautions  :    Comfortis Plus (Panoramis) should not be administered to puppies less than 8 weeks of age. Puppies less than 14 weeks of age may experience an increased rate of vomiting.

Seek veterinary advice regarding the use of Panoramis in pregnant and lactating females and dogs with pre-existing epilepsy. The safe use of Panoramis in breeding males has not been evaluated.

Concurrent use of Panoramis with high extralabel doses of ivermectin for parasitic mange or demodicosis may be associated with an increased risk of neurological signs typically associated with ivermectin toxicity.

Panoramis should not be administered concurrently with extralabel high doses of macrocyclic lactones.The use of Panoramis in dogs suffering from microfilaraemia is not recommended.

On rare occasions, transient shock-like (hypersensitivity) reactions have been observed in heartworm positive animals carrying a high number of microfilariae at the time of the first treatment with milbemycin oxime.

Dosage and Administration  :    

Comfortis Plus (Panoramis) tablets are given orally, once a month. The recommended minimum dose is spinosad 30 mg/kg bodyweight and milbemycin oxime 0.5 mg/kg.Recommended dose.

Dogs 2.3 to 4.5 kg bodyweight. 1 tablet (spinosad 140 mg, milbemycin oxime 2.3 mg). 4.6 to 9 kg. 1 tablet (spinosad 270 mg, milbemycin oxime 4.5 mg). 9.1 to 18 kg. 1 tablet (spinosad 560 mg, milbemycin oxime 9.3 mg). 18.1 to 27 kg. 1 tablet (spinosad 810 mg, milbemycin oxime 13.5 mg). 27.1 to 54 kg. 1 tablet (spinosad 1620 mg, milbemycin oxime 27 mg). > 54 kg.

Administer the appropriate combination of tablets.Administer with food for maximum effectiveness; may be consumed as a treat just prior to feeding, offered in food or in conjunction with a meal.

To ensure that the entire dose is consumed, watch the dog for several minutes following tablet administration.

If the full dose is not consumed, redose as soon as possible with the full dose.Panoramis should be administered at monthly intervals, preferably on the same date each month.

If a dose is missed and the monthly interval between doses is exceeded by less than 14 days, immediate administration of Panoramis with food and resumption of a monthly dosing schedule will minimise the opportunity for the development of adult heartworms, intestinal worms and reinfestation by fleas.

Treatment may begin at any time of the year, preferably starting one month before fleas and/or mosquitoes become active and continuing monthly to the end of flea and mosquito season.

In areas where fleas or mosquitoes are common year round, monthly treatment with Panoramis should continue the entire year without interruption.

When replacing another monthly heartworm preventive product, the first dose of Panoramis must be given within one month of the last dose of the previous monthly medication.
